if they sue you, you will win

that forgetass chimney guy sucks snake

If that stuff were to happen in Ohio, you'd be shot dead.

>dad asks question and the chimney sweeper isn't answering.
>chimney sweeper gets attitude
>chimney sweeper attacks dad
>brother defends dad

yeah, file a lawsuit.

Lawsuits cost a lot of money, and that's not even counting the bill from the law firm that you hired from.

A lawsuit does infact cost money.
In the UK you do not need a legal representative for yourself.
If you were to take this through the criminal courts it would very likely be that you report it to the police and the CPS takes it from there. You yourself are giving evidence, you aren't paying the costs of the battle, rather the tax payers of Britain are.

You could go directly against them yourselves via the Civil courts, in which case you can take a case against the company. Here you can represent yourselves (you have a strong case). You can also get a legal representative/solicitor to help you. It is often the case that solicitors can be hired on a no-win no-fee basis.
If you win the case, which assuming proper evidence is given and all that, then the civil case could end with compensation from the company. It may not. At any end the loser will have to pay for the cost of the court process.
It is also possible that during a civil case the courts may redirect it to a criminal case too against the workers in person, in which case it would be a criminal investigation and wouldn't cost you.

I'm not a professional on British Law. If your parents are considering legal action do try to get in contact with a solicitors firm or even the police or any other help assosciations. to find out exactly what you can do. It can seem very very daunting to challenge a big company in court, but they're tried exactly the same as anyone else. Having their own lawyers does not mean they will win. There is only so much a lawyer can do when their client has actively broken the law.

In relation to the chances of losing your house, this isn't very likely. Is your house specifically owned by your local council or by a housing assosciation? Either way it is these people's responsibility to provide housing for you.
The fact that they could have to move you would mean that if that were the case you'd likely end up on the top of their housing list. It wouldn't take long for you to move into a new house, if that were the case. If there was a delay between housing then you might find your family staying at a Bed&Breakfast for some time or a Bedsit or other such temporary accomodation. Believe me when I say there are worse offending families in Britain that go through Council housing like they're changing their knickers.
Do not worry about going homeless because this will not happen. If the case is that you move house I'm afraid it will be stressful. But don't worry about not having a home at all. You're not likely to have your family split up anymore either.

If the case were to be that you are being moved because of this, regardless of whether you take legal action against the company and whether you win or not, then you can very easily put up a fight.
Take it to the council or housing assosciation. Take it to the controllers of these people. Take it to your local member of parliament. Take it to the newspapers.
Don't let your family be pushed around because of what some terrible workers did.

There are numerous support forums and things online for help discussing these sorts of issues which you can find. You can likely find these by searching online or visiting your local civic center or similar offices.

If you yourself find yourself struggling emotionally and with stress then I would suggest you try a helpline, whether on phone or online. The Childline (0800 1111) is a very good helpline and contrary to popular belief they can help you with more than just abuse. If you find yourself struggling or even just need someone to talk to then do contact them. They can even help you/your family get in contact with other offices and such to help with your specific problem.

If a woman can sue McDonalds because she spilled hot coffee on herself, you have a fighting chance of suing Chimney Sweeps Inc. because one of their guys attacked you.

are both your brothers actually handicapped?
