Good, but not something I'd use.

Nice concept, but could use a better model.

Author Topic: Hatch Door - An Experiment with Block Placement  (Read 1318 times)

I started working on this a couple hours ago, and my main goals were

a. if I could create a door
b. if I could create a block that could be placed flushed with the ground, without having to have invisible "filler blocks" under it.

with some trial and error, I'm pretty close to success. one weird bug I can't seem to fix is that friction doesn't seem to apply when the player stands within the confines of the door.

other than that, it works wonderfully.

i made this topic because i wanted to know if someone has already done something like this before, and if you guys would be at all interested in this being released, as well as if it would be safe for me to release this, because the way I did this is sort of glitchy-hacky, and I'm not sure if it would cause any sort of disturbance in the game.

It's cool I like it, although I feel setting it up would be quite a bugger.

Either way, release it man.

alright, i guess i could go ahead and pack it up and make a thread in Add-Ons, maybe after I get a couple more "yes"s.

i want to be sure that people want this so I don't release it and then have a hundred and a half complaints about it

in fact, a beta test would fix this. here's the brick.

tell me any problems you can find and I'll try to fix them.

You can jump through the bottom part of the door, and you can place it in the floor.

Only somewhat major things I don't like. If you can't fix the friction at the top, then all well. Yet, I think the jump-through-bottom bug might be part of that problem...

So wait, can your tactic to place this hatch door at the side of bricks work for other bricks as well?
