Author Topic: My parents got a check for ~$3900...  (Read 783 times)

...from the IRS.
They filed for a bunch of random stuff in 2006 and just now my mom received a notification and then the check itself. My mom and dad are going to split it (separate), and my mom is going to use most of her half to pay for a lawyer's work who represented her in a case to continue a restraining order. My dad needs all the money he can get at the moment and will probably be able to do a lot with it.

Discuss this fall of wind.

"from the IRS"

brain says; did you mean bill?

"They filed for a bunch of random stuff in 2006"

brain says; are you SURE you didn't mean bill?

are you getting any yourself?

My mom was extremely skeptical, but it's also tangible. It is not a trap, there are no strings attached.

are you getting any yourself?
I don't need money

This is litterally the first thing I've read about your family, and I feel really bad about your dad and hate your mom.

can you buy me a lego set??????

Why do you hate her? To be clear, the restraining order is against a completely different guy who was stalking her.
Anyway, my family is pretty out there. My dad is a large-company-manager-turned-farmer and my mother does all sorts of legal stuff and is currently organizing other lawyers to work for free for poorer folks.

nope

The way you put it made it sound like the old fashioned "my parent's split and my mom took everything my dad has."

I don't need money as much as my parents, that's for sure
I have plenty at the moment anyway

No, it's not that way. Sorry that I wasn't clear. My dad was stressed out about being a manager all the time, my mother was getting on his nerves. He was getting on her nerves for not being quite as civil as he had been before and eventually when he decided to be a farmer she expected that he would be happy but he was still pretty stressed and misunderstandings arose etc and they're on pretty good terms now considering everything.

It's estimated i'll get about $4000 back next time I do taxes I'm not sure what I'll spend it on. if I manage to find a house to rent with a garage instead of an apartment I'll probably get like a 250cc motorcycle or maybe just save it.

I thought the title said -$3900, I was like "that sucks"
