Author Topic: Team Fortres 2 connecting to server makes the game crash?  (Read 588 times)

So, I wanted to connect to my favorite server in TF2, and it got to "Retriever server info...." and a few seconds later, the game went black and I got the "hl2.exe has stopped responding". I tried to connect to different servers, but they all did the same thing! Does anyone know what's going on? Thanks.

I thought maybe someone on here plays TF2 and has this problem, too, but I'm dumb, trying to find one in a million.

there are so many different things that could cause this problem, i'm afraid you aren't giving us enough information.

we really aren't the right people to talk to about this in the first place either, honestly.

it could be your internet connection, your computer, your router, anything really, you've provided next to no information

the standard fixes are to restart tf2/steam/your computer, delete clientregistry.blob (Program Files\Steam), and verify the integrity of the file cache and/or defrag (right click TF2 in Library, Properties, Local Files)

you're much better off asking SPUF along with posting your specs

Does TF2 save a console log? Maybe you could get some hints from that.
