Author Topic: The "art" jerk  (Read 245 times)

Let's say I draw a nice picture of a cat, and José sits in a litter-box and pours tomato sauce on his head. According to modern terminology, these instances are both considered "art". So what is art? Art doesn't really have a definition. Art can be absolutely anything you want it to be, even if you as well as everyone on Earth hates it.

This is where I get pissy.

I've grown up being praised for my talent in the arts. Watching people get away with stuff like loving a tricycle while wearing a bunny suit is like getting stabbed in the heart. All that I've lived for being defined the same as an act as grotesque and stupid as that is enraging, and it only encourages other people to look down upon art because of its nature. People honestly think my major is bullstuff because of this.

My proposal is that art which requires some actual effort should be called "Sparf", and regular art (like a crude drawing of a snake using period blood) should be left alone. At least then us hard-working sparfists could acquire some dignity for our medium, and the artists could still appreciate their own work as well.

TL;DR: I rant about stuffty art because it's been annoying me today and I want to blow off some steam.
