I own a Kindle fire HD and a regular Acer Android 4.0.3 tablet. for the same price the Fire outperforms the Acer.
Which model of acer tablet? The earlier acer tablets - nay, every earlier tablet was complete stuff to even the kindle fire hd.
the ads on the homescreen are by no means a nuisance, and if you really don't like the ads, for $50 they can be gone.
$50?
$50? You pay $50 for something that shouldn't be there in the first place? (them being a nuisance is a subjective thing so we'll have to agree to disagree on that)
Plus the Nexus has an excessively large resolution screen that is almost useless because the highest resolution most movies are sold at is 1080, not 1600.
Gaming, web browsing, whatever, the extra screen space is useful.
Also what does it really matter what processor it has as long as it's not a Celeron from 1997? I never experience any slowness or freezes on my kindle.
gaming, high cpu intensive tasks. it might be good for you, it wouldn't be good for me.
Plus there is a $400 price difference between the two so it's really apples to oranges.
The nexus 7 16gb is $200. that's a $0 price difference. It is a similar size (same screen size), not running a bastardized version of android, has a superior processor and graphics card, and doesn't display ads on the loving lock screen -
