Author Topic: cannot move using the key board  (Read 912 times)

I have read the troubleshooting FAQ and I cannot find anything related to this.  When running blockland u cannot move using the key board.  The dos box that opens up showing everththing that is loading has this error in it.
Error:  Could not open file "key.dat" (reading)
Engine initialized
keyboard0 input device created
mouse0 input device created
keyboard0 input device created
mouse0 input device created.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!!

Hmmm, the console window often shows a lot of errors, but few of them are actually worrisome. When it says "Cannot read key.dat", I think it means that you have an invalid one, which means that you should delete the one you have, re-enter your key, and it will generate a new one. I don't understand the keyboard movement problem though.

On a somewhat related note: You cannot run Blockland from a flash-drive or a CD/DVD properly. As it needs to be able to access and overwrite data in the Blockland folder as it is being run.

The "Error:  Could not open file "key.dat" (reading)" message will also show if you are using the demo version - it's not a big deal unless you have actually bought the game and entered your key.

Please elaborate on not being able to move.  You hit WASD and nothing happens?  Can you look around with the mouse? Jump with spacebar?
