Well, all weapons, items and vehicles in the unmodded BL are all flat-shaded. Its basically a style.
Its a proven fact that people are more likely to use a mod on their server(s) if it fits in with other items, weapons and vehicles.
Another thing to note is that most vehicles are typically paintable and are only one color.
