Author Topic: So I had bad grades this semester.  (Read 1320 times)

Did you get bad grades because you were lazy or because you didn't know or understand the material?
Thing is, 1/2 of the material I didn't actually get, I don't mean I needed to be taught it, I didn't get the actual work. The other half I didn't get/lazy. A little bit of both.

i got bad grades too for drawing in class

i can't help it!

Make a friend in each class and buddy system with them to make sure you get your work. As for the lazy, dunno, just man up and do it. I have laziness issues as well.

Oh god I do that too. I can't help it either!

1/2 of the people don't do the work (leave it, don't give it to me) and the other half are starfishs who hate me and won't give me work. :v

if half of your classmates already hate you, I don't imagine there's much to lose through whatever exclusion good grades might earn you

I got.
English 9 - A
Health - C
Art - A
Info Processing - I

I = Incomplete.

Screw what school thinks/says. It doesn't even measure your intelligence. It measures how much of a tool you are, your lack of independence, lack of questioning to anything so that you will be a modest and obliviously happy contributor to society.

I only get above-average grades because I give what the teachers want, not necessarily what's actually true.

They don't really hate me, they just don't care about my work.

er, school isn't a measuring device, it's a place to learn. you're seeming like the kinda person who does bad in school, and justifies it by saying that school is some ass-backwards place where everyone is out to get you

You're saying what it's supposed to be, not what it actually is. They assign you a number or letter. Universities don't care who you are, they just look at the numbers. 3/4ths of the trivial facts we learn at school we almost never use again in our lives. True, it gives us experience and overview of essential career paths we can take, but it's somewhat lacking  practically. At our school we also need to do community service, which no one believes in. They gave 'outstanding' achievement awards to those who cheated and made up about 300 hours of their time.

Unless you count memorization as intelligence. Then there are plenty of people who can cram useless facts into their brains and recite them at any given moment and be worshiped.

EDIT: Ask any of the high-level students in any class from my school how things work. They won't be able to explain it. They just memorize specific formulas, not even understanding them. I consider intelligence the capacity to apply information to understand things better, even in unfamiliar situations.

How do you get anything but an A in music?

How is that possible?

well, that's their problem. and the teachers', I guess. a good teacher is going to make tests with problems that require an understanding of the situation, rather than just memorizing that "this happens after this happens" or whatever, and a good student would take the time to gain the understanding by whatever examples the teacher provides. you can't really help what the teacher does, but if someone actually cares, there are plenty of other ways to learn things than just school

well. that's not even what we're talking about. nvm

It kinda is relevant. Memory is valued more than problem-solving ability (at least by today's standards) which is what I'm arguing against. I'm guessing that you agree with this?

I got a C+ in PE
