It looks too bland for my tastes, I build very basic as well. The colors are a bit bothering as well, but do as you wish.

Add some lighting and get extra fences for more brick variety.
It's kinda hard to hide secret passages with such a barebones design

how are the colors bothering? They are all neutral to the eyes and go well together. Please explain, I don't understand what you mean by that.

blue and dark grey look too dark... too much contrast imo

its not bad, i would really have to play in it to tell you what i think though
