Author Topic: Computer refuses to connect to internet?  (Read 1474 times)

I have a vista computer I just installed a nice graphics card to and I went to start it up (And I have used this computer in the past under same connection) and as soon as I type in my password the "Windows cannot connect to ____" screen comes up. I saw it loading but only for like a split second. It keeps happening and I have no idea why.

I can't connect Ethernet right now because it's too far away from router.

I did try factory resetting this computer in the past but then decided to just quit because I didn't feel like it. The computer just ran normally like last time. Any idea why it isn't connecting?

Also: All of my other computers can connect to it fine (Connected right now through laptop)

Did you press the WiFi button?

Did you press the WiFi button?
That is only for connecting with a password protection but you don't know it

update wireless drivers
ensure the wireless card supports your network encryption with whatever driver you have installed
ensure there is no IRQ conflicts (windows should do this automatically from 98 onward)

Nope nope and not sure what the last one is.

Plus when ever I try to change my encription to tkip it says on this computer that the settings on the wifi and this computer are different and I can't connect

Holy forget nevermind thanks a lot dude

Ok for some reason it worked and it said it was connected then all the sudden it disconnected.

And when I try to put in the password it just takes me to the password screen again. then when I type it in again (anything) it just keep loading

Edit: I got it to work again then it just disconnected.

i found out the connection is horrible because I'm getting 1 bar and it just keeps appearing and disappearing in the list of connections

Get a usb wifi connector. It literally is the cure for all problems.
