Author Topic: Graphics card making weird noises on the BL Menu (Solved)  (Read 325 times)

Alright so whenever the Blockland menu loads up my graphics card begins to emit weird noises. I am not the only one with this problem, I looked up on the interwebs and it said its something with the capacitors that emit noises when under heavy load or something with the fan (which is normal apparently). I also found on the interwebs that some other people experienced this similar problems on other games when they are on menus running at 100fps or higher. When v-sync is disabled, the blockland menu runs at like 1000fps. When vsync is enabled, the menu runs at 60FPS and the weird wheezing noise is very very subtle, or you can barely hear it anymore.

I am guessing the solution to this is to have a Menu cap of maybe 60FPS/120FPS, which is what a lot of other game developers do (no need to have more than 120fps on the menu).

Another method could be to just enable V-sync when on the menu but then that would require the game to constantly disable vsync when you leave a game and then enable it again when you go back to the menu.

What is the problem with just leaving V-Sync on all the time?

Some people may not want VSync for personal reasons or for people who like to record, etc. Either way my second idea, along with yours which is basically forcing Vsync for even the people that don't want it isn't really a good idea.

Badspot could just have some FPS limit in the menu like 60fps or something.
