Author Topic: Will I lose all my friends if I uninstall and reinstall Steam?  (Read 2488 times)

I'm having problems starting Steam right now, and reinstalling it seems like the only solution, so this is my only question.

so far as i know, just like everything else on steam, your friends list, games, and community achievements and content are all cloud saved. so no.

bahahahaahaha
no you won't. i had to basically reinstall steam once.
your friends data is stored on the steamworks cloud server, not locally.

Everything related to your account is stored on the account, not your computer.

This is why you still have your friends if you: log in mobile, through website, another computer, etc.

So you'll be fine to reinstall it, don't worry.

Go to your steam folder
delete everything except SteamApps and the Steam exe
run the steam exe

This way you can keep your games

wait, if i uninstall it, and reinstall it, will i have to download all of my games again? :C

didn't see the above post

...i dunno. i'd maybe back up one or two of the ones you don't want to have to potentially wait around for, but i'm honestly not sure. seems like it'd cache them outside of the program main files, but iunno.

ffs does anyone read my posts ;C

thanks guys, nothing was lost :)
