Author Topic: Planetside 2 - Tawrich Tech Plant (In Blockland?)((IDEA))  (Read 1350 times)

     (Sorry for my formatting, haven't been on the BL forums in a LONG time, and even then I wasn't a very good user. Take this into account.)

     Hello all, I've (sort of) come up with an idea to be used for a server in BL. After thinking about it, I've thought of getting people together to try and recreate a small segment of Planetside 2's Indar, Tawrich Tech Plant (correct me if it's not a tech plant). Even then, you may be thinking, "Well, why not just play Planetside 2?" I thought that same thing, but I was seeing this as a chance to get a good quality server up and running IF this can even be pulled off, which it may not be able to.

     FIRST: This will require A LOT of support and help if this is to be done in the slightest. I'm not the greatest builder, scripter, eventer, etc. which is why I would either want someone else to take this over completely or get people who can do those things for me.

     SECOND: Modeling. I would refuse to use any type of weapon packs for this, seeing as how Planetside 2 is not a game you can have scrap weapons for. I would want around 5 or 6 guns from each faction (Vanu, Terran, Conglomerate) to fit the role for each class being played at the same time (which you could also do a "shop" system, but that would take way too much time to model and script, unless you wanted to wait like a year for this to actually happen). Would also like some vehicles (excluding Sunderers, unless someone is able to actually get it working in BL) to be implemented. Custom sound FX needed (ripped from game audio or personally made).

     THIRD: Scripts/events. This wouldn't require too much, but scripting would definitely fit in with modeling, since guns would need their own qualities to them. Events would basically be teleports, messages, etc. A custom gamemode MAY have to be scripted in if no other type of mode can be substituted.

     FOURTH: Decals. Sort of ties in with modeling, except I'd need custom prints and player decals just to fit in with the entire theme.

     FIFTH: Building. This is the biggest part. Capturing the entire feeling of Planetside 2 in Blockland would be quite a tough challenge, especially with an area like a Tech Plant (unless people would find it better to be a Biolab, etc. but I found the Biolab would be too awkward and clunky in BL). I would really need devoted builders who really want to help or do this themselves as their own project.

     SIXTH: Gameplay. Ties in with scripting and modeling. I don't want this to be slacking in any way, shape, or form. If this is even done I'd want to see it done correctly and professionally. Needs, of course, the center capture point which may give an advantage to the team holding, such as a spawn closer or inside the plant. Guns need to be fluid, not clunky. Too many times have I seen weapon packs in Blockland with bad quality and physics. Separate factions need to be powerful in their own right, but not so powerful that it overshadows the rest and makes everything unplayable. IMPORTANT: I know this would need a lot of players to even be considered Planetside 2, but if there really are big issues with player sizes, then the map could be downsized to a smaller area.

     Overall, you can see where I'm going with this. If you want to take the idea from me, go right ahead, because this will take a ton of time to complete, if you wanted it to be suitable. But if I can get help and support, that would be great. I would not be able to do this 24/7 and would need people to do things at their own rates on their own time. Once people do their parts, they could show me what they've done, etc. The main issue would just be the building of the area, since it would be a huge pain in the ass to complete, even for seasoned builders. I am completely aware of this being extremely difficult to put into BL. This project would take a few months to a year, even, if the highest quality was wanted out of it. If you want to criticize my idea, then do it. I'm open to being helped or people starting this as their own project and getting their own help.

     Again, sorry if my post is a bit "lacking" in quality, but I haven't really done much in the BLF for quite a while. Also, sorry if this was posted in the wrong section, but I honestly saw nowhere else it would really fit into. Thanks for reading the entirety of this post, if you did.

Because of the player involvement and typical capacity of a server, a Bio Lab would probably be better.

am i the only one who doesn't know what the tawrich tech plant is

I thought of both types, but thinking of a Bio Lab and the huge amount of stuff inside of it would be a pain to do. All the foliage, SCU (if it was implemented), etc made me lean more towards a Tech Plant since most action is usually centered right on the middle of it.

This would be a pretty neat thing to play on, though

It could still be on Esamir or Amerish since it's a concept, at the moment.
