Author Topic: My laptop keeps going to sleep  (Read 1095 times)

Yeah. Sounds like your top is over heating. My laptop gets pretty warm playing blockland. It doesn't over heat but I put a little red fan next to it, just to be safe. Plus it keeps my hands cool :3

My MacBook Pro doesn't ever overheat oddly, nor does my iPad. My old Dell nearly went on fire though when it was turned on for 12 hours straight. OY VEY

I guess ill get a fan or one if those laptop cooling pads.
Just glad it wasnt a virus.

Bump, I got a fan, and I started up my laptop, and hooked up my charger, flash drives, keyboard, mouse, and monitor, and when I got to the log in screen, it went off again, so, I turned it back on, checked the temperatures, and they all where below 60 C, but, the laptop wasn't connected to the internet.
What could be happening?
Also, is there a shortcut that I could be hitting to turn the computer to sleep, or could my keyboard be messed up and putting it to sleep?
Cause I noticed, when I try to make a question mark, the left shift key wont do it, and I have to use the right shift key, and I think my keyboard might be screwed up, and thinking that it is hitting the sleep combination.

EDIT: Figured it out, something to do with my left Alt key, turning it off, I think somehow a setting changed for a shortcut to turn the computer to sleep is set to left alt, anyway to change it?

Download Sharp Keys

It lets you remap or fully disable keys. I did this with my F6 key because it randomly would rapid fire.

download that and fully disable left alt.

use winkey + tab to replace your alt + tab fiasco

Well, I accidently hit alt again, and it didn't go to sleep, I dunno what the heck is happening, its probably just this keyboard is getting so old or something, its about 4 years old, might try and get a new one.

I really don't see how an Old key board and/or a faulty "alt" key can cause a sleep mode activation on your computer.

Go into MyComputer and look at your Keyboard settings.

Did you try using an alarm clock?
