okay, so what i would do is make a list of commonly used words at first.
split the list into verbs, propositions, etc. (however they'd be categorized in Japanese) and write English translations with explanations for how the word is used differently in different contexts.
for example, like how por and para both basically mean "for" in Spanish but are used in different, noninterchangable contexts translating rather differently into english.
