Author Topic: Android HTC Help required  (Read 630 times)

Hello, forums.

I come to you today in seeking an update or new version of android to run off my HTC Desire X. Recently my phone has started crashing for literally no reason at all, mostly when connected to Wifi.when charging, it also crashes. I have two friends with the same phone and they both have suddenly been getting the same crashes as myself. I've read up that we need to update to version 4.1.1 but unfortunately Australia loving sucks and won't push the update OTA. Should we just download and use a custom version of android or what can we do?

Also, I tried a factory and hard reset but my phone is still crashing, hence why my typing is atrocious because the stock web browser is miserable for browsing the forums

Strange. I have an Android HTC Glacier and stuff's been crashing lately too.
Of course I'm too lazy to update the version so it's still on v2.3.4

I used to have the HTC Desire, had the same issue you've had with randomly turning off or getting into reboot loops. Got tired of that and upgraded to the HTC Sensation then had the exact same issues with that phone. Never going back to HTC or Android after those experiences - had an iPhone 5 for a while now and it's the best phone I've ever had.

I have an HTC Incredible 1 on Verizon's network. I can't update it despite it being 2.3.4, as Verizon believes they can get us to buy new phones by not letting us update firmware on existing ones.

Try rooting and flashing a ROM with a recovery tool like ClockWorkMod. You can find ROMs on XDA Developers, androidforums and other websites but I recommend using the Unofficial AOKP 4.0.4 ROM (scroll down the page for the download). It's a beta but hopefully it works properly. Just follow all the instructions your ROM provider tells you.

When I have problems with my Androids, I never wait for an over the air update. I just do some modifications such as installing a new ROM to get over my issues. It saves you a lot of time.
