Yeah. We are talking about ambience. That fun stuff that makes servers sound more involving."am·bi·ence
/ˈambēəns/
Noun
The character and atmosphere of a place.
Background noise added to a musical recording to give the impression that it was recorded live.
What? What's this topic exactly for, you ask? Well I will explain for you.I am here to demonstrate how to add ambience to your servers. Why? Because, as stated above, it makes the whole thing seem a bit more involving and, even though a lego game, the players feel a bit more immersed.
I am not here to give you some .oggs and .wavs and tell you to go forget off with 'em, I'm here to tell you what to do with any .oggs or .wavs, and how to make them.
What are .oggs and .wavs? They are super common knowledge, atleast, .wavs are. Both are audio filetypes, one takes more space than the other. Which I cannot explain why, because I simply do not know. Why does it matter? You should almost always use .ogg for ambiences. They loop better and overall save you more work. How do I make this '.ogg'?Simply slap any sound file into Audacity and export it as a .ogg.Thats all?Nope! IF YOU ARE PUTTING IT INTO BLOCKLAND, before exporting your file as a .ogg, you have to make it mono.
To make a sound file mono, you have to split the audio track, like so:

After doing that, convert it to mono, preferably deleting one audio track.

(no, i do not have a mac, i found those by googling)Okay. I have a .ogg file which is mono. What do I do now?Take it and place it into your Blockland/Add-ons/Music directory.
Download Chrono's 2D Music System. Why download that? With the correct events, this will play .ogg files to the client instead of from a music brick. No more spamming music bricks!How2AmbienceI will now explain what would correctly qualify as ambience. How do I find said ambience? If you have any Source games, there is more than likely some loops in there.
Loops..?Yes. Loops. Loops are a sound that can be played from the beginning once it ends, and sound like a continuous sound instead of 1. This is exactly what an 'ambience' is.Okay. I have some ambiences at my disposal and I have put them into Blockland. It still doesnt feel right...what now?Music!Music?Yes! Music! But why music?Didn't you watch the video? Using the same method as before, music can set the mood even more.
Choosing actiony music can fit for a deathmatch, and creepy music such as above can be for 'Renderman' servers. What about other players? Will they hear my ambiences and music? No. Not unless they too have Chrono's 2D Music System, and they need to have 'Download Music' enabled in network options.
