Author Topic: My dog got hit by a van.  (Read 7157 times)

I would check if I heard a loud noise.

Now you're just being stupid.
We never said it wasn't alright to  check if you KNOW you hit something (Like a Great Dane.), but there are tons of holes and bumps in the road, and it was a small dog.

You're trying to base this only off of your emotions for the animal that got hit, while we're using our experiences driving and the driver's perspective as well.
When I'm sitting in the passenger seat I can clearly see bumps and holes and know to expect hitting them.
When you just randomly hit a bump in an area where there are no speed bumps and no visible bumps or holes, then I think the person driving would be like "What the forget did I just hit?"
But to be honest I'm not sure if I would go out and check if I didn't see the dog run into the road. Unless of course there was somebody on the other side of the street who gasps or screams or something...

According to the OP the dog was a small dog, and in the center of where the car was traveling. The dog tried to duck but was hit in the head.

This means that the driver of the vehicle probably only heard a gentle thud and did not feel much of a bump at all.

I know it's not the driver's entire fault, but they played a big part in hurting the dog.

OP, you should've put the dog on the leash and not have listened to your mom.

Is your dog doing okay?
