Author Topic: Attempt to highjack profile?  (Read 1426 times)

I just got an alert from my email that someone tried to change my password, which i have not recently sent any request on these forums to reset my password. I'm a naturally paranoid person, so I decided to just change it anyway. Should I be worried that someone tried to access my account, since i've never given anybody my email address?
Remembering the recent things that have been happening with lando hijacking multiple accounts, I'm just a bit paranoid.

They failed to hijack your account, so now find out their ip and who they are and hijack THEIR account!

If you changed your password after that alert, then I would think you would be fine.

What's your email provider?

Gmail.com is my provider.

implying that you can highjack someone's account with an ip.

And yes, you should be worried. Change your forum pass and any accounts that use the same password.

implying that you can highjack someone's account with an ip.

Implying I'm implying hijacking via the ip.

Was there an IP attached to that email?

Please tell us the IP you received in that email.

i for some reason can't find the other email, but if i do i'll post the ip it had

Create a GUI interface using visual basic and see if you can track their IP address.

You win the loving thread.

If you have security questions connected to your e-mail, make sure the answers to them are definitely something only you know.
Don't use info that someone who knows you personally could know. And don't use any info that you can find on say, your Facebook.
That's things like your Mother's Maiden name, or your parents hometown.

Make up an answer to the question. Just make it so that you remember it.

It doesn't even matter if you've got a clever password if someone can just use your location from your profile to get past your security questions.

kalphiter use your ip library and find out who it is

OP didn't deliver the first IP; the second request is possibly someone seeing this thread and then trying to annoy him.
