Author Topic: Can you guys give me any tips on making an African/Carribean poor village?  (Read 690 times)

I'm trying to make this village seem poor and not very well constructed, but it just looks like I'm  not a very good builder.

Any suggestions?

I've tried making buildings look rundown and poorly built before. Its not very easy without making it look spammy. Good luck with this!

Don't use a brick foundation, it cost money and makes the building look more constructed. Use 1 material (Mud, Stones) for the walls, and have small holes here and there. Make the windows oddly shaped like they were dug out of the wall instead of carved. The rafters are a good idea, but have them go strait across rather then hugging the roof. Rafters that hug the roof would involve carving the wood to perfectly fit, which is time consuming and expensive,  from what it looks like, your going for a run-down hut. Also think about having an uneven dirt floor inside, rag beds, etc.

would use mud & sand for this.

What I would do is destroy a few walls, place a few ramps in the walls to make it look like it tore in half, mis-shape parts of the house, places small 1x1f plates and round plates, change the colors of objects to a brighter/darker color, then maybe do a fog emitter. Don't really take my idea for the fog emitter. I am not sure how that would end up looking.

Get General's Plant Bricks.

You should also try to put a small water fountain where all the women go to get water.

Reminds me of that one island from Runescape's architecture

Put random debris everywhere and make the inside very cramped. Also try and make the build less fancy, like it was made with materials from the dump (no offence to those guys) Also mainly use dark earthy colours. (no neon)

example;

EDIT:

You can also make it have clusters of straws with random 2x4x1 rounds around the place.

google is your best friend :)
