How do I put in my avatar?

Mine is really cool and I need to find a way to use it.

Go to Profile. Click Forum Profile Information and look at the top. Click "I will upload my own picture" then click Choose File. Choose the picture you want, and then press Change Profile. Your avatar should change by then, however if it does not appear changed on your screen, press F5.
Also, you might want to post these topics in the help section now. That's where this stuff is supposed to go.

I had trouble getting mine to work too, and resizing the avatar to 75x75 worked (or to a lower size).

It used to auto-convert the sizes according to a few people, but I think after a forum update it broke (I remember someone telling me this a few days ago).
