Author Topic: Random flukes of "family safety"  (Read 593 times)

My parents set up my computer to kick me off at 9:00 central time.
Tonight, it is 9:18 and I am somehow not off yet.

Discuss strange random flukes of programs like web filters and family safety.

My school's computer guy has no idea what he's doing

Our computers in one room run an emulator of the exact same OS they're already running

and he only found out this year how to block things on the network so that we can't just turn off proxy in mozilla firefox

My school most likely doesn't filter any research sites

Went to school one day, noticed one of the PC's was being slow as hell and acted really odd. Talked to teacher about it who just brushed it off repeating 'it's old'.
Looked at files, someone had downloaded a buttload of music and the C:/Windows/ and Windows/System32 files were full of stuff that probably should never be there.
Like, ever.

In middle school the filter used to not work on google images, so we'd just search up "research" and all look at it in the middle of class. Found it ironic that that worked but you couldn't play any games other than coolmath.com

Use https:// somehow we were able to do anything in the school's wifi.

I once tried to guess the schools WiFi password and worked after trying over 200 potential combinations, even when the schools chief technician told me directly that "all available network listings in the school building are blocked" when they really weren't.
