Author Topic: [VIDEO] Blockland Trailer  (Read 3861 times)

I think the song is just right for a trailer that shows off the less fast-paced stuff, such as building or exploring. The video isn't bad, but it could be better.

I think it would be cool to have a video that went like this (doesn't have to be a trailer):

The player spawns in with the Blockhead avatar in an empty map. He looks around and sees nothing for as far as the eye can see. He starts building a really basic 16by16 house with a door, a few windows and a chimney. The video shifts through different stages of his work; him making the walls, a door, a roof. When he finishes, he looks at it from the front, but feels dissatisfied. He makes a road and starts adding more detailed builds. The video shifts from build to build showing what he's made and what he's working on. Each time it shows a new build he's done or that he's working on, it's better or more detailed than the last. Eventually, he has quite a large city in progress. It shows him, from behind, sitting on a support beam for one of his half-made skyscrapers with the sun behind him overlooking his city. When he feels that he has done enough work on his city, weeks later, it shows him walking around looking at all his builds, fixing things up here and there. Then, when walking down a street, he sees the very first build he made, the little house with the chimney, but it has broken windows and plants growing all over it. The music stops as he stares at the house, remembering when he built it. He stares at it for a few seconds with a small breeze blowing and then walks towards it, thinking back to when he placed those bricks. Then, he starts fixing it up and removing all the plants. When he's done, he looks at it from the front like he did when he first joined Blockland. He looks around at the rest of his city and then back at the little house with the chimney. Then, the music comes back and the video shows the house at night with the lights on inside and smoke rising from the chimney.

I think that would be cute. c:

so fast paced and action packed I almost stuff myself! I'm so loving motivated I could buy the game again!
All because he can make a better video doesn't mean u have to get mad.
I just hope this gets new players

Hey, I'm in the speedkart part.
But for half a second.
And I only knew it was me because I saw the jeep that I used. And then I saw myself.

Eh

It's ok, prob not the best possible music to use there, though I do like it  don't hurt me Zapk :c

This video did a fantastic job at showing what the game has to offer

...but it just wouldn't work well as an official trailer. The attention span of people these days is so small that they'll get through the first thirty seconds and after seeing slow paced music with a blockhead bouncing around some builds, they'll think it's a Roblox knock off and tune out the rest. This game may not be a fast paced, action packed game all the time, but you just can't keep people's attention for more than a few moments if you don't show some interesting and cool things in the trailer.

only show of SPO builds, okay narcissus
EDIT: i realize you have the saves to those so okay, but yeah a little slow paced. and it didn't really show off much in terms of dming and other stuff the community does

needs to be way more upbeat, and faster, take eksi's trailer for example, it throws out a lot of features really fast with fitting music and makes it feel exciting, this was a good try but it makes the game feel boring

This trailer was a bit bland. I would suggest showing what this game features and a more upbeat song to get viewers going.

then let's only attract people with larger attention spans. and I hope you realize that most trailers are up to 4:00 in length, all of it showing pretty much the same thing. those games have plenty of players.

I did this because I didn't want to deal with asking people for permission to use their builds.

Really boring
I blame the music

I as well don't think this is an adequate trailer

Slow-paced for no reason really. You didn't really show off so much and random wandering through dead buildings may work as a blockland short but not as an advertisement for a game. I actually thinks it's kinda unattractive. Also I partially blame the music. Beatles.. no no.

lol the song is so off pitch.

Put some more of those TDMs and races.

it was extremely dull and you did a pretty horrible job of displaying the mechanics and building features. the camerawork was choppy and cutty as well, and it didn't flow at all. Didn't make much sense.

If you want to show off certain features, like building for instance, show separate elements. Like placing a brick, using the brick menu, and painting. Don't just build a giraffe, paint it, and then fast-forward it 5x, someone who's new to the game will get confused and intimidated. Show emphasis and detail on certain elements, not just speedrun through an example. That's what you did for literally every feature you showcased (and you didn't showcase much), and the rest was just a blockhead jumping through a series of unrelated builds built by you, which was pretty boring.

The music didn't fit at all either.
