Windows xp to windows 7 64

I know I literally made a topic a second ago but anyway..

I'm still stuck on windows XP, and its really dragging me down since my new computer.

I have 8 gigs of ram, 3 cores, and a pretty good GPU for the price. I want to play games like Digital Combat Simulator, however the minimum requirements are 6 gigs, meaning that DCS only sees 2.92 gigs and does not load the 3d world when I click on something like "instant flight" because of lack of RAM. Not to mention that all the other games suffer to due to the operating system handling the hardware inefficiently.

Can I upgrade for free to windows 7 64 (at least home basic), or is there a price to pay?

Also, is it possible to buy auth keys for windows 7 ultimate, because ideally that is what I need right now if the above can't be done.

yes, buying a copy of windows will cost money.

also, you will have to completely reinstall windows.  you won't be able to keep everything and just simply tack on windows 7 (not only because it's from XP to 7 which doesn't work, but 32-bit to 64-bit which also doesn't let you upgrade).

here's a copy of windows 7 home premium 64-bit.  comes with the install DVD and key.

with windows 7 ultimate you basically pay more for a bunch of extra features.  look through those features and decide if you really need them.

windows ultimate versions is exactly the same as the normal onces except theres 2 more features that noone ever needs that cost $20 per feature.

yeah, i have ultimate on my desktop and home premium on my desktop.  literally no difference in price.

I remember something about Home Edition not allowing changing in localization of the computer or something. Basically, playing games from non-Latin countries might not work. I found this I believe Japanese game, but couldn't play it because I needed to localize my PC to Japanese so it'd run properly.

Or maybe I'm just stupid? But the only other solutions I could find were annoying workarounds which would only make it run badly or not even work...

if you have that specific need to localize languages or whatever then sure go ahead get ultimate.

Yeah Ultimate is great for changing the interface language for playing Japanese eroges learning a new language.

You can always change the os language and input localization...
