No, you messed up the ratio by messing up the ratio. When making an avatar, to ensure that the ratio is preserved with the largest size, you should crop the image to the head, but not change the aspect ratio of the crop.

Also, floating heads are weird. Headshots should at least include part of the lower body in the image.
