Author Topic: Are wireless headsets any good?  (Read 1267 times)

Recently I broke my mic by running over the cable with my office chair and it cut some of the wires. My dad suggested that I should get a wireless headset so that it doesn't happen again. Are wireless heads good? Or are they really really stuffty? I've never had a wireless headset before. Also I don't know exactly what type of headset I'm getting. If you want to suggest a good cheap headset I would appreciate it.

I have the Logitech G930. It's a nice headset, and the battery keeps charge for a long time. It's 7.1 surround sound, but costs around 165 dollars.

It's as easy as; do you hate batteries or not?

I heard that wireless headsets audio quality gets compressed vs wired headsets or something I'm not sure

Wouldn't the headset have lots of static from things on different frequencies?

Most of the headsets are Bluetooth now days so no, no static

Can the bluetooth connect to the wrong device?

Like if two people in a room both use wireless earphones.

Me and my brother had identical mice that were wireless and they use to forget up so much because they only had 1 frequency. So if I moved my mouse on my computer it would move the mouse on his computer too and vise versa.

The problem with Bluetooth is that it doesn't carry very high quality audio. I can tell a difference if I use the Bluetooth on my phone vs connecting via an auxiliary cable.

Quite honestly Bluetooth sounds like stuff. It was meant for phone calls and should probably stay that way.

that sounds like it'd be a fun prank to play

The problem with wireless is batteries just don't have enough juice to drive decent headphones. My suggestion is get wired headphones with a beefier cable. Or even a detachable cable. That way, if you wreck the cable, you only need to replace the cable.

I think they are, they're not annoying to wear too and you don't have to go through the troubles of untangling the chords.

Bluetooth does not sound like stuff. What bluetooth headphones have you used? I use Parrot ZiKs, and they scale really well with better quality sound files. Running .flac or even straight AIFF they sound great. MP3's are a bit lossy, but that's more to do with the way MP3's are encoded rather than the signal quality of bluetooth.
