Quick question - Marvel Comics - Wolverine!

So me and my girlfriend are having an argument:
I think Wolverine's powers originate from the Adamantium in his body, because that's the only procedure he endured (to my knowledge, I dunno if Weapon X was just for the new bones..?)
she hasn't said what it's from, but states that it's not that.

Does anyone know how Wolverine got his high heal-factor?
It's understood that he's a mutant, but apparently his mutation has ceased due to the nature of his mutations/the Adamantium.

If you could cite your proof that's 3x more fantastic, because then I can show her my proof

DC was cool with the original comics pre-1990, then (in my own opinion) it went downhill, nowadays the only heroes I still like are superman, occasionally the flash and cyborg

From that one wolverine origins movie I thought I remember them talking about how he was born with the healing, making him live a long time with his brother Sabretooth

She made fun of my favorite (ironman/tony stark) so I made fun of her favorite (wolverine) and thus this topic came to be

Wolverine was not born with super-human healing, because in the original comics concept storyline, he gets in a terrible car-to-motorcycle collision, tries to stand up and his legs literally break as he stands up, thus Weapon-X comes to him and says let us test on you so we can experiment and you can live to forget stuff up not die

It depends a lot on the current story arc. They keep some things common but a lot of stuff changes.



Also Wolverine is one of the worst super heroes ever. He is so not cool at all.
