Author Topic: Need to set up a network boot server.  (Read 460 times)

I really want to install a linux distro on my laptop but I ran out of DVD discs and my flash drive arrives tommorow. However I have a spare computer and a router very close. I have a network cable. Can somebody help me set up network booting? I basically want the server computer (the spare one) to be able to host a LAN network boot. I can use a network cable because both the computer and router are very close to me. If you could, please post instructions  or a link to instructions.
I can choose to boot from NIC in my bios one time setup
Thanks.

I don't have enough knowledge on the subject, try googling it

I was googling for about an hour. I only found tutorials on how to install windows from the network and overcomplicated tutorials on installing linux from the network which weren't understandable

Port might be able to help you, I remember him suggesting this to someone once before.
