Author Topic: Ok, I'm frustrated.  (Read 654 times)

So I got some new RAM for Christmas as (I may have mentioned before), but strange freezes started occurring. I did a virus scan, and things seemed okay for a while.
But the freezing came back.
It was the RAM.
Frustrated, I ran some tests.

  • Memtest: OKAY!
  • Old RAM, No new sticks: OKAY!
  • New RAM, No old sticks: OKAY!
  • New & Old RAM together: NOT OKAY!

TBH, I've given up. if there's anything I missed, please, let me know.

ram is programmed to not work with competitor ram manufacturers
ex. t-mobile ram does not work with intel ram

Your new ram has to be exactly identical to your old ram.

You are probably mixing RAM like a scrub.

you can mix RAM if they're in different dual channels but it sounds like you're probably not doing that.  even when you do that, it's not great.  my old computer used to have two 1GB sticks in the first channel and a single 2GB stick in another slot and it wasn't great

did you RAM it in too hard on initial installation?

Maybe your old ram is too slow for your new ram

yeah ive never had this problem and i mix ram

Hm, looking, at the specs, my old RAM was faster than my new RAM. Hm. :/

My brother was looking for some new RAM anyway.
