^yeah, that background in the back of the error message doesn't look good either.
Hey guys, so I finally seemed to download the correct libraries for gmod, and now it gives me this error on start-up.
I have tried doing this-
cd ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/bin
ln -s libawesomium-1-7.so.0 libawesomium-1-7.so.2
ln -s ../garrysmod/bin/client.so ./
But it gives me no error when I do it.
In /home on my computer, it has client.so in it but when I try to open client.so (not by terminal), it says it is broken and asks me if I want to move it to trash.
I have also discovered that libawesomeium (apparently a library for linux) was in /home.
I do not know where my steam folder is.
I am running linux mint 13. Help.

Ultimate solution: Don't use Linux

But upon googling it(magic) you can find this;

Ok, I did some digging through older errors listed here, and some of them had suggested symlinking libawesomium because apparently that is why client.so is not working.. I tried this: "ln -s libawesomium-1-7.so.0 libawesomium-1-7.so.2" (in the SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/bin folder) and then switched to dev mode.. and Gmod is working on dev mode, I hope this works for the rest of you.

Same problem here on Gentoo.

I worked around the problem.

The following are the things you can do to work around the problem(s):
Go to the shell:
export STEAMLIBRARY="put your steam library path here"
cd $STEAMLIBRARY/SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/bin
ln -s ../garrysmod/bin/client.so ${STEAMLIBRARY//\//\}"\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\bin\client.so"

This will solve that problem, but it won't be enough because someone forgot to update the awesomium library (or probably put the Mac version, I see Mach binaries).

To solve this download http://www.awesomium.com/downloads/awesomium_1_7_2_sdk_linux32.tar.gz
extract libawesomium-1-7.so.2.0 and awesomium_process in $STEAMLIBRARY/SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/bin
rename libawesomium-1-7.so.2.0 to libawesomium-1-7.so.2
symlink libawesomium-1-7.so.2 to libawesomium-1-7.so.0

If I didn't forget anything it should work now.

EDIT: the first part removes the error message discussed here but is useless after fixing the awesomium files.
Don't know what it means because I'm not a pro hacker like linux users but you'll figure it out.

Wait even better, a video;

Right click on your game and validate cache or files or whatever it says there.

edit: I found some workaround that fix this error

on linux, run following commands:
cd ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/bin
ln -s libawesomium-1-7.so.0 libawesomium-1-7.so.2
ln -s ../garrysmod/bin/client.so ./

does this work?

I don't have that issue anymore. now it crashes on loading world when I start a game

bump
please guys, i can't put up with this anymore
i love gmod :c
