I consider myself a decent board sport enthusiast. As of today I own 2 long boards, 2 snowboards, 1 skateboard, a surf board and now a freeboard. Those that don't know what a freeboard is or how it differs from it's cousins watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLQXEPO5Ftg

Basically a freeboard is like a snowboard mixed with a long boards cruising style. It has 3 wheels on each end allowing it to rotate while moving at high speeds. It also has snowboard like binds but their not as "intense" as a snowboards. Anyways I was hoping to get some advice on how I should go about learning the freeboard? No one I know has one so I'm walking in the dark here.

would a ripstik count as a free board? it can rotate at high speeds. im gonna go out on a whim and give you my experience since the basic principle seems the same:

ive rode one of those before. i had the advantage of seeing other people use them before i actually used one though, but i only used them to actually learn how to move forward lol. as soon as i learned that i just started going down hills till i got the hang of it.

but i will learn you a thing, that is one painful method so you might just want to try the internet or ask your friends if they know anyone who has a free board. do you go to skate parks? im sure someone there could help you

I have no experience with a freeboard, but I with a snowboard and Ripstick, so I'll give it a shot.

My best advice would be this; treat it like a snowboard (although keep in mind you don't have "soft" snow to land on if you fall). When I was learning how to snowboard, I treated the snowboard as if it were a Ripstick at first. Of course, I fell over and stuff, 'cause it's obviously not a Ripstick, but I was able to learn snowboarding at an accelerated rate. Once I had made the similarities to a Ripstick concrete, I treated the board as a snowboard, and learned the snowboard-specific stuff. All in all, it took me only several hours to learn basic snowboarding almost completely.

Of course, you previous experience boarding will help a ton. So just have confidence, wear a helmet, start on level ground, and go for it.

Ya been boarding since I was 5 haha. Okay so I tried the freeboard and turns out it's easy but I had to drive a few miles to find a good enough mountain road to ride down, Stopping is a bitch too

Yeah, seems like stopping is almost identical to snowboard stops.

Ya except I got a mouthful of asphalt the first 5 runs

lol i forgot how momentum worked once and just stepped off a ripstik while going like 15 mph down a hill thinking i could just stop myself that way

i kept going just without the board :I

Was going down a hill with a ripstick to see how fast I could go jumped off and had to go to the er cause I broke my fibula and my speedometer said I hit 28 mph

Exactly only this time my board went with me thanks to bindings lol

I like this sentence.

You are wearing a helmet and protective padding right?

Well I used to have a casterboard with a couple of friends which is basically a ripstik but without the rotational spine in the middle. It was so much more comfortable to use a casterboard than a ripstik, idk why. By casterboard, I mean a normal skateboard frame but with two wheels instead of four.

It was so easy to make too, especially since my dad has a workshop in our basement.

Just got done snowboarding at Killington, Vermont with a bunch of friends. We arrived last night and partied in a condo right along the side of the trails. Awesome week.

I love snowboarding and I film with a longboard for a skate channel me and my friends have. I am also borrowing a skateboard and buying a cruiser soon c:
