Author Topic: 2.5 terabytes of Fraps files. Gonna be makin' videos.  (Read 786 times)

When I try to import all the files at once, Vegas Movie Studio replaces almost all of the file path with a single Japanese character and claims nothing could be found.

Should I try to make a ton* of videos out of this and get it out of here?

*In the context of a Fraps Purge, "a ton" of material may end up only making a few videos anyone would want to watch.

edit:

It looks like the file browsing system within movie studio has stalled

edit 2:

I'm making an AC3 video. I'll group up all this stuff by game and see if anything is worth keeping. I will actually try to give it some editing, not just dump; this one I already edited a couple weeks back.

2) I've been keeping them since July
1) They're uncompressed
2) I still don't see how you make like 3001000 videos in that time.

still, 2.5 terabytes, that could take up more than 2/3 of a 3 terabyte hard drive. seriously, fraps must be stuff then. i've never used it, i always use bandicam.

He made the blockland trailer you fool.

1,522 files.

26 hours. That's a relatively short time for someone like me to record gameplay across half a year.

I play more than that in a week. Hell, I'd play more than that in two days on some weekends.

It's great at keeping everything intact. It's stuff at compression. It basically doesn't compress at all during runtime. Or after runtime. That's why I bought a 4TB hard drive, so I could record and not worry about it. Except now I have so much data it causes file browsers to lock up just sorting them.

uncompressed doesn't mean bad. it'd be like the video equivalent of a FLAC

I have roughly 6 minutes of fraps footage, at 1080p resolution, 60 frames per second.  It takes up about 11GB.  Assuming this is constant, 2.5TB (2560GB according to google) is roughly 1396 minutes of footage, or roughly 23 hours of footage.  It's just raw video so it takes a lot of space.

Bam, I'm nearly right.

On the contrary, fraps records pure quality.  I can play the fraps videos I have recorded in VLC in fullscreen and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, honest.

Fraps is terrible. It uses up so much disk space so fast. It also kills your CPU.

Quad Core fixed the CPU problem at least for me

I never record in 1080p, I mean itd be nice but why fill my hard drive completely? lol
