Author Topic: Is this a decent laptop?  (Read 703 times)

Laptop is falling apart yada yada and my mom told me they might get a laptop tonight. I told them to let me look first.

Heres one that has pretty good ratings, an Intel Pentium processor, 6gb RAM and 750gb hard drive.
but Intel HD graphics :(

anyways right now its listed at $350 after savings and rebates and my parents have $80 to staples in giftcards/credit bring the price to $270

Is this the best deal I can get at staples?

Try and get one with either a Dedicated GPU or one without Intel HD Graphics, since Intel HD Graphics and GMA processors cant run Blocklands shaders.
I tried a laptop with a AMD APU and it can work with shadows
you must be out of your mind if you think you can get a decent computer with a dedicated gpu for only 350. you're acting like running shaders is the #1 priority, its not
intel hd can run blockland fine

but this computer really sucks anyways

The new Intel HD Graphics are actually pretty nice. This one isn't, though.

Oh stuff sorry, forgot to read the budget.

Wont be using this for blockland (most likely) Ill be using the only broken one for blockland. This will be for general use and casual gaming by my mom lol

I had this exact laptop several years ago. It's an ok laptop, but you can't expect it to much more than surf the internet and play movies, and within two years it will be a crappy laptop. I would at least get a laptop with an Intel i3 or like an AMD A8, which will run you around $500 bucks.

This is a Lenovo 17" with an Intel i3, 8gb RAM, 1TB hard drive

Cost $420 with the $80 off

I'd go with the first i3 option just because 17" laptops are absolutely massive and unwieldy.
