Yes they are two different languages with different uses. Javascript was supposed to be based off of java when it was made specifically for the browser, but it's nothing like it lol.

Since you're new to programming. I would try to find a video or a website that explains the concepts of programming.

This, is the best thought out tutorial I ever read.

I spent 2 hours going through it. And now I kind of know how Java works.
