negative keys sounds like a good idea. we could also have negative keys show up in the player list as 'FREE' like how lan shows up as 'LAN'


i don't know how these free weekends work, though. i'm afraid that someone could simply copy the blockland folder and paste it somewhere else and continue to play it past the weekend.

Why not incrementing negative keys? For example, the first five free steam users: -1, -2, -3, -4, -5

And they're tied to steam accounts so being banned from servers work.

I don't think so, I tried using letters as a bl_id, I don't think it was doing anything

Even if they copied it over it would still need to authenticate with steam or the masterserver.

Badspot could add something in to force demo mode if the weekend has passed and they had a free ID number, that would clean up the ones offline as well.
