Wouldn't in be cool

i doubt it. chances are they will only go up in price as they become more advanced. have more advanced cellphones become cheaper over the years? have powerful computers become cheaper? no. chances are, 3D Printers are not going to become cheaper.

buying one is a bad idea. they have them at some stores and will let you use them for a small price.
You completely forgot about inflation (usually increasing in the US). Also, your statement about more advanced tech becoming cheaper isn't really correct. The printers that cost a lot now will be cheaper in the future. It's the ones that haven't been invented/made yet that are going to have the large price tag. Additionally, some tech (smartphones, for example) are going down in price, even with newer technology.

the school i work at got 2 of these $30k 3d printers that run nearly 24/7 because they let anyone get on a list to print anything they want.

i could make something :D

Post a picture of IRL Beta City or ACM City. Convert it to .obj first and make sure the size isn't ridiculously large.

an 8GB model of the first iPhone was $600
a 64GB model of the latest one is $200 less than that

And that's not even accounting for inflation, in which case the difference would be even larger.
Yes, technology gets cheaper, even if it's getting more advanced and especially if it's not. A refurbished iPhone 3 is $50 right now and a new one is $150.
