I probably should have do the editing at a higher resolution than paint.NET's default 800x600 but it should be fine.

I'm not saying it should be more complicated. It's not too simple, it just seems... I dunno, something about the font, and the colors, and that slight angle, it looks good in an extremely generic way, like I've seen it before even though I haven't.
