Need some help getting mic to work with my headset

So, I received a Turtle Beach Ear Force NLA, which is a headset for the Wii U. I want to use it on my computer, however the mic won't work. I have a wire where you connect the headphone jack from the headset and it plugs into both the headphone and microphone jack on the computer, but to no avail. I would like to know how to get the microphone working on my PC. Note: The headset only has a headphone jack.

EDIT: Made correction. It is a Turtle Beach Ear Force NLA, not NL3.

If it's a headset meant just for the Wii U, it will only work with the Wii U unless its a different kind of headset, ex: Astros, Some Razer headsets, and a few more.

The speakers on the headset work. I mean, It's OK anyway because I own a Wii U.
