Author Topic: Can someone give me a simpletons version to making a blockland addon?  (Read 801 times)

I want to make a very simple weapon or vehicle addon for BL, but I don't have any idea how to use Blender. Like, nothing on there makes sense to me. Is there anybody kind enough to teach me how to make a basic item in Blockland?

Preferably I'd like to make a vehicle, but I think a weapon starting out would be better. Rather, an item. I was going to make a simple coin, and if I did a vehicle (much more help), I'd do a NAScar.

Any help is appreciated!

well what i would suggest first is NOT starting from scratch

open up a weapon file and mess around with values and filenames and such

First, this should be under General Modification Help. Second, if you bother looking at that board, you'd see a few tutorials stickied. You should read them. One gives a step-by-step explanation of what you should do to make vehicles and weapons. You also need a basic knowlege in Torque scripting. You can see tutorials or ask for help in the board Coding Help.

open up a weapon and start loving around

I personally used the Mini-nuke as a base for my first gun; I swapped the model and colors, changed emitters, explosions, damage values, etc to get used to the language

it'd probably be best to use something else unless you're okay with your first weapon being ridiculously overpowered, cuz chances are you're gonna beef it up before you nerf it

after that I learned sketch-up, used the Pro version trial to export my things, and used DarkStar's blender tutorial to get them in game

keep in mind this was with absolutely no prior experience with torque OR blender, both are very user-friendly and easy to get used to imo
