Proper Steam integration with a pre-greenlight copy of the game?

I've owned blockland for upwards of 4 years now and I'd like to add it to my Steam library. Simple enough, I've done this with other games, just go to my library and add game.

However, it shows up as a non-steam game and I can't access any of the related features as I should be able to (achievements, statistics, groups, etc).

It's irritating. Is there a way to fix this?
