In my life I've never heard anyone say "costed".

I dunno if it differs between American English and British English, but I've always only heard sentences like "It cost him like 40 dollars!".

I've never actually paid that much attention to whether someone uses the word "costed" or just "cost" I've just kind of always known it can be used

it sounds more natural saying it "costs" or just "cost" than "costed"

for most people anyway
