i use the dynamic FOV mod for speedkart for this effect :)

But it's impossible to have a FOV higher than 180 with orthographic projecyion; anything above it is just set back down..

No its not, done it multiple times, it doesnt go back.

Set it to 180 and then to 300, you won't see a change.

120 is just weird for me. i don't understand how people play with it.

Setting it to 120 is really strange if playing with a small resolution.
If i end up playing on my 1024×768 monitor I usually tone it down to 90.
