something weird happened to my fonts, they look sorta rough and generally bad

numbers look a lot different too


and it affects a lot of things. every internet browser and windows explorer especially (the first image was in firefox, and the second was in chrome). but it doesn't affect steam for some reason, or notepad++

I think it started after I played a game in windows XP compatibility mode. but if that couldn't have caused it then idk
does anyone know what's up? and how to fix it?

Why not launch the same game without a compatibility mode? Or change compat. mode to the latest OS.

Under Interface on Steam settings, "Enable DirectWrite [...]" is probably checked, meaning Steam's font is separate from your system, which means the way your system is displaying fonts is messed up, which hopefully would be fixed by running the ClearType thing.

didn't work. the game just crashed, and nothing changed

I only ran the game in compatibility mode, didn't change anything for the operating system in general
