well, to be more OT, this guy is really hittin' the nail on the head
yeah he is

"Mental illness is such a misunderstood problem that people don't take seriously enough"

<Man kills a bunch of women after posting a bunch of videos of him secretly filming people from his car and talking to himself>

"Oh this guy killed them because he hated women! Not because he was clearly mentally ill. Why are we blaming it on mental illness?"

Actually, there is one part of this video that I want to directly quote and respond to:

"Six people are dead because this one guy felt entitled to woman's bodies"

It's almost funny reading this because it's so evident that this person spends all of her time on Tumblr arguing about rape culture. This is a guy who killed people. Yes, I guess that technically means he felt entitled to (destroying) their bodies, but it's almost funny how her Tumblr vernacular is leaking into something that has absolutely nothing to do with rape.

I'm not a psychologist, I haven't taken a psychology class, I probably know comparably little about psychology, but the basic fact about rape is that it isn't a violent crime or even inherently a misogynistic one, it's a crime of power committed by people who feel deprived of it. The fact that she is asserting that a man, clearly mentally ill as evidenced by countless videos of him acting paranoid and psychotic, decided to murder a bunch of women because he didn't like women and had some sort of 'rapist psychology' where he wanted their bodies (presumably after shooting them, I'd guess), shows that she can't approach any sort of crime against women without applying some unilateral, tumblr-philosophy about how people like him commit crimes against or murder or rape women because they feel entitled to their bodies.

You know, as opposed to him just being a mentally ill lunatic who escaped diagnosis and treatment because of a society where mental illness is stigmatized and poorly understood by most people.
