Windows 7 product key issues

So i have this laptop that has stopped working plenty of times. It has also gotten fixed plenty of times. However, the last time it did, my dad got some guy he kind of knows to fix it. He said he needs to wipe the hard drive so he did that, and fixed some other stuff i guess but honestly idk wtf he did. Anyway so my laptop is back now, and it is working however when i logged on to it for the first time it said "Windows is not genuine" not knowing what it means, i ignored it. After reading a little about it, i thought maybe the guy had taken our windows product key... anyway i really want to figure it out and get this fixed before they drop support with windows 7 because then i wont be able to get the full version

have you tried putting in the product key again

look on the bottom of your laptop. there should be a sticker with your windows serial. use it

He reinstalled windows, so you'll need to enter your product key again. He couldn't do that because... he doesn't have it.

cant find out what it is and ive checked for a sticker on the laptop and it isnt there. and i have looked up how to find it out and nothing has helped

really thats weird. every laptop should come with a sticker that has your serial on it. unless someone peeled it off

ok so i was looking around where i put my laptop and i found the sticker and i guess it had fallen off. anyway it's faded like forget which is an issue but im sure i can get past it. thanks for your help

edit: ok, so it was hard to see what the code was on the sticker so i downloaded a keyfinder program. i typed in the key it said, and this time it didnt say "invalid" like all my other failed attempts, this time it said
"An problem occured when Windows tried to activate.   Error Code 0x8007232B"
When i click more information it says
"Description: DNS name does not exist"

So you know what to do, use google to figure out what this error means and how to fix it
