Author Topic: Can't change system language  (Read 626 times)

I want to set English-US as the default language of my system, but it says that the language is not available for this edition of windows. Im using windows 8, and I need this for a speech recognition program, but microsoft doesnt allows diferent system languages (like Portuguese) to use a english speech recognition.

If Windows 8 is anything like Windows 7, you need Ultimate (or the equivalent highest tier version) to change system languages.

microsoft website it applies to Windows 8, but still, it tells me to download the lang pack that is a thing I cant do...

does upgrading to Windows 8.1 fixes it???

As far as I know, it's not something that can be fixed. You need an entirely different edition of Windows.

Microsoft support says I need to upgrade to a more recent version.

Well, I will download 8.1 tomorrow but I will still let this open if theres some solution

wot. That seems a tad silly.

I'm pretty sure you can change the default language on the first tab, and then change your keyboard input with that window on the tab open in the screenshot. And this is Home Premium, btw.

Looks like I will need to upgrade to 8.1, I will post if it works or not
