Author Topic: Buying Question  (Read 1146 times)

I was around nearly two years ago when Blockland was in beta, it's amazing as to how much it has changed for the better. It looks truly amazing. Sad to see it has gone into "retail", I really think it would of been better in a donation-ware position. (Where, if you want to donate - awesome. But you aren't required to - would raise a high player base and popularity which would bring in a lot more money.)

Quick question though. If I was to buy blockland, is it a one time fee for current and future versions? Or is every version a payment? Or, somewhere down the line when a big release comes up, such as ver. 10 or so - will I have to pay again?

Thanks.

ou only need to pay once.

Just once, never again, no matter what. Unless you lose your key and can't recover it in any way whatsoever.

QFT.

Badspot can resend the key to the email address you bought it with. So really, one time no matter what.

Also I hope you become a member of the community; your grammar doesn't fail and you seem intelligent.

Like everyone said, one time payment.

Unfortunately this simply does not work.  People do not pay for things that they have already gotten for free - especially kids who don't have any money to begin with.  During the early v2 days, I had a donation button and a google ad up for a few months.  During that time about 100,000 people downloaded the game.  I got a grand total of about $165 in donations about $118 in ad revenue which is not enough to cover the cost of hosting the website.

i was gonna donate 200 bucks to have my avatar on the front page.
lol

I agree with you, on the stance of kids not donating at all - that's even the case with those over the age of 17, which is quite pathetic.

When you talk about the amount of money that you were receiving in donations and ad revenue compared to the amount needed in covering for the server - is this a "non-for-profit" game? Was that the first intent for it to be? - But due to funding couldn't be accomplished? I'm just curious is all, you don't have to disclose said information in any means.
