Author Topic: Corrupt key file?  (Read 3262 times)

I recently bought a new Windows 8.1 PC and moved my Blockland files from my Windows 7 PC. Thus including the key.dat. I started up Blockland and I still had my files as seen in the console but it took me straight to demo mode. Another thing I noticed is where it would say Welcome! it had said Loading, maybe its a network problem?

Help?

key.dats only work on the computer they were created on. You'll have to either re-enter your key or use a tool to extract the key from your old key.dat on the computer it was made on.

I have the key.dat on the backup right now, how to extract?

So to confirm, you can still play blockland fine on your windows 7 machine?

My windows 7 machine is no longer usable due to a motherboard and hard drive issue - this being the reason why we bought a new PC. We were able to back up most of the computer on a chip and just loaded the files on today but yes before I could easily run Blockland on that PC.

Do you have the key or the email with your key in it somewhere? If so just re-enter it. The system works in such a way that if you change PCs you need to re-enter your key.

you'll need to enter your key into BL on windows 8

if you're trying to recover your key, it's possible if you have the windows 7 working and a known key to test against

The email associated with this account is unfortunately long forgotten...

you can't access the ID from any other computer than the one that made the key.dat file then
unless you have another known key and can use that computer to decipher the key.dat file

but if that computer is dead and won't work anymore, then you're out of luck

You can use the key recovery form to get another email with your key in it, though it only works if the email you bought the game with is still active. Is it?

This might go without saying, but i wouldn't bother e-mailing the Blockland support. I never even got a response and after annoucing in servers for 2 weeks on my old computer, until zeblote helped me.

My friend had given me a key a day ago and then we found this thread: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=252103.0

Could I try this?

Those methods only work on the same computer the key.dat file was first generated.

Unfortunately that only works if you're on the same computer.
Could I ask if by chance you remember any parts of your key, or by chance the MAC address of your old computer?
