Author Topic: What's some good (preferably free) Music creation programs?  (Read 470 times)

I'm looking into starting trying out to compose music of ambient sorts and background types of music, I thought I'd ask you guys of a good program to start off of or learn to use.

any suggestions?

openMPT seems p good and i think some people here use it

Like composition and musical notation?

Sibelius is the top dog, but costs money. There's also an HD sound pack to make everything sound good. There's a trial version as well.

Finale is another less used but still good. Don't have experience with this, unlimited trial, sounds stuffty, probably has an HD sound pack.

nanostudio is pretty good, but i don't have much experience with it. it's a mobile device port so the controls can be a little weird, but overall (with the experience that i do have) i like it. it has some nice sounds as well

I mostly use the demo version of FL Studio, and it suits me just fine.

linux multimedia studio

linux multimedia studio
also known as LMMS
this is like fl studio, and it's great. i've used it before.
